The Art | The earth-moon system artificially placed in a stable circular orbit around a schwarzschild black hole, to show the phenomena of Einstein rings as an object passes behind a black hole from the perspective of a distant observer. | The Math | A Schwarzschild black hole is one of the simplest nontrivial solutions to Einstein's general relativity, describing the region of spacetime around a non-rotating, neutrally charged point mass. Raytracing along null geodesics follows the curved trajectories of light through this spacetime, simulating what an observer would see with their eyes. |
